Marcellus Shale Drilling? Special Council Meeting Oct 26, 2011 at 7:30 PM
Do we want Marcellus Shale Drilling in Franklin Park. The Borough Council is holding a Special Meeting on Zoning questions on Oct 26, 2011 at 7:30 PM. I am proposing a Ban on Marcellus Shale Drilling in the Borough. We don't need to see gas flares in the Borough and we certainly do not want to see the air we breath. (We cannot stop the existing oil and gas wells from starting up again)
The truck traffic for the drillers would be unacceptable on Borough Streets along with the frac. water trucks plying on the roads. We already have enough complaints of "jake brake" noise by trucks on Rochester Road, Nicholson Road and Wexford Bayne Road, that Rep. Turzai has written a letter to PennDOT to alleviate this problem. Truck traffic from Marcellus Shale drilling will only exacerbate the problem.
City of Pittsburgh has voted unanimously to ban Marcellus Shale Drilling. Peters Township has the "Ban" on their November Ballot. Statewide, about 100 communities have already voted to Ban Marcellus Shale Drilling.

West Penn Multi List has an added Seller's Disclosure about oil and gas drilling on the property or in surrounding properties. Essentially, if there is any drilling in the neighborhood, it would become harder to sell a house.
